We use a program called TrueCrypt to create a special encrypted file that secures all our personal and senstitive information.
TrueCrypt encrypted files are mounted so that they appear to Windows like a regular disk drive.
All the data stored inside these encrypted files looks and behaves to Windows like regular files, but are about as secure as we can possibly make them.
For additional security, these encrypted files are only kept on the Network Drive and not on the laptops local drives.
This software is free and should be regularly upgraded from the TrueCrypt website as updates are issued.
Check the About box from the Help menu in TrueCrypt to see what version we have.
IMPORTANT: If we ever lose the password to the encrypted file there is no possibility of ever recovering the documents in that file!
