Create a CD or DVD in iTunes that contains a selection of music.
There are three types of CD you can create with iTunes:
An audio CD that is capable of being played on any CD player
A MP3 CD capable of playing on some car systems.
A Data CD or DVD that contains the audio files suitable for backups and transferring music to another computer.
Create a playlist with the selection of music you want.
Click on the playlist and:
Check the bottom of the screen that the size of all the songs does not exceed 700MB for a CD or 3.4GB for a DVD.
Make sure all the songs you want to include have a checkmark beside them.
Insert a recordable CD (or DVD for the Data CD option) into to the DVD drive. If a Windows dialog box pops up then close and ignore it.
Click the Burn Disc button at the bottom of the iTunes window, or right-click on the playlist and select Burn Playlist to Disc.
Choose your Burn Settings in the popup window:
Preferred Speed: When you burn a CD, iTunes automatically adjusts the recording speed to the blank CD's rating. However, if your blank CD is rated for a slower speed than the maximum speed of your drive, or if you experience problems creating CDs, you may want to change the CD recording speed to match the CD's rating.
Disk Format:
Select Audio CD to play on any standard CD player. Limited to 700MB and about 70 minutes.
To change the length of the silence between songs, choose an option from the Gap Between Songs pop-up menu.
To have all the songs on the CD play at the same volume, select Use Sound Check.
CD players in some vehicles can display information stored on CDs; select Include CD Text to use this option.
Select MP3 CD to create a disk capable of playing on some car CD players.
Limited to 700MB, but the total play time will typically be 5 to 10 times longer than a standard audio CD.
IMPORTANT: The music files must be in the MP3 format, and since most of our music files are MP4/AAC this option will not work for them. All of our courses have been recored in MP3 format so this option will work for them.
Select Data CD or DVD to create a disk suitable for backups and transferring music to another computer.
Limited to 700MB for a CD or 3.4GB for a DVD.
Click the Burn button.
When the CD is finished it will appear in iTunes in the left pane, showing the tracks.
Click the Eject button to the right of CD to remove the CD from the computer.
