Transfer music from iTunes to an iPod.
There are two ways to transfer music from iTunes to an iPod:
Automatically: the music syncs with a predefined selection of Playlists, Artists and Genres.
Manually: the user manually manages the music on the iPod.
The iPod remembers the Playlists, Artists and Genres you selected in iTunes, and automatically synchronizes any changes to those lists when the iPod is plugged in.
To automatically sync an iPod:
Open iTunes.
Create any Playlists that you will want to transfer to the iPod.
Plug the iPod into a USB port on the computer using an iPod Connector Cable.
Wait for the iPod to appear in iTunes the list of Devices on the left.
Click on the iPod to select it. The window pane on the right will show all the options available for that iPod.
Un-select Manually manage music from the General tab.
Click on the Music tab in the right pane.
Select the Playlists, Artists, and Genres you want to transfer (sync) to your iPod.
Click the Apply button in the bottom right of the window.
When the sync has completed, click the Eject button to the right of the iPod. (or Right-click iPod and select Eject)
Wait for the actual iPod screen to show the menu before unplugging.
The iPod behaves like an external disk drive, and the user must move all the music files manually from within iTunes.
