This proceure is intended for setting up the D-Link DNS-323 Network Data drive for the first time.
The device is able to work with one single hard drive under Standard mode, but our preference is to configure it mirrored (RAID-1) with two matching disk drives.
Press and hold the center Power button on the front face until it blinks, and wait for the unit to shut down.
Slide the front face up to expose the drive bays.
Install the matching disk drives into the two drive bays, and replace the front face.
Press the center Power button to turn on the device.
Administer the device using a web browser. The device will prompt you to format the new drive.
Note: Formatting a hard drive will erase the data stored on the hard drive. Backup important data before formatting a hard drive.
Set the configuration to RAID-1, which means that data on the two matching drives are mirrored with each other for security if one drive fails.
