This program replaces Microsoft Word, and can read and write all Word documents.

Open Document Format

The default format for saving documents is the Open Document Format (ODF), an open inernational standard for document storage and exchange. This is the format we should use to ensure long-term compatibility and readability of our documents.

If you need to send a document to someone who requires Word format, then select Save As from the file menu of your document, and select Microsoft Work (.DOC) format. Microsoft Office 2007 onwards is able to read and write Open Document Format.
