To import the music from an audio CD into iTunes.
Open the Preferences from the Edit menu.
In the General tab, click on the Import Settings button and check that the import format and quality levels are set appropriately for the type of material being imported.
For music use: AAC at 256 and select VBR (Variable Bit Rate).
For audio books & courses use: MP3 at 128 and un-select VBR.
Insert the CD, and wait for it to load in iTunes and get the track details.
If necessary edit the CD tracks info before you begin importing them:.
To edit multiple tracks at once: shift-click a block of tracks, then right-click on the block of tracks, and select Get Info.
To edit a single track at a time: right-click on the track, and select Get Info. Use Previous/Next buttons to move between tracks.
To join tracks into a single track: select the tracks (shift/ctrl click) and then select Join Tracks from the Advanced menu.
Click the Import CD button in the bottom right corner, or
Select all the tracks (Shift-click first & last tracks) and right-click on the block of selected tracks, and select Convert to AAC (or Convert to MP3) from the popup menu.
Click on the Music section and document the song information for the imported CDs.
