To update the information that defines the meaning of songs.
Unfortunately, music imported from sources like AllTunes is typically very badly documented. Information like the Genre, Year, Number of Tracks are usually missing, and there are often spelling mistakes on the songs that need correcting. It is a pain to do this, but it is the only way to keep iTunes organized and not lose track of the information.
To update song information:
Open a Windows Explorer browser (press Windows+E keys).
In Windows Explorer navigate to NETWORK-DATA/Music/New and then to the music location you just imported.
Use the list of music you have imported to remind and guide you which song information to update in iTunes.
Open iTunes and go to the first Album you imported and select all the songs in the album (Shift-Click from first to last).
Right-click on the block of selected songs and select Get Info from the pop-up menu.
Click on the Info Tab of the dialog box and fix all the information that is common to all the songs, such as:
Album Name
Artist
Year (the album published)
Total Number of Tracks
Genre
