Open Office

Free open source software that replaces Microsoft Office suite with:

  • Calc for spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel replacement)

  • Draw for drawings

  • Impress for presentations (Microsoft Powerpoint replacement)

  • Base for databases (Microsoft Access replacement)

File Formats

While Open Office can read and write Microsoft Office document file formats, the default format for saving documents is the Open Document Format (ODF), an open inernational standard for document storage and exchange. This is the format we should use to ensure long-term compatibility and readability of our documents.

Main Menu

Click on OpenOffice Menu in the Start menu to open the general menu, from where you can select any of the available programs in the suite.
