Create a Secure File

Use this procedure to create a new encrypted file that can then be mounted in Windows like a drive to contain its own set of secure documents.

• 1. Open TrueCrypt from the Start Menu.

• 2. Click the Create Volume button.

  4. Select Create an Encrypted File Container and click Next

• 1. Select Standard TrueCrypt Volume.

• 2. Click Select File to browse to where you want to store and name the new encrypted file.

• 2. Select the type of encryption to be use. Use the defaults such as AES.

• 2. Choose how much space to allocate for the file.

  3. This is impotant, since it is like creating a new disk drive, you need to estimate enough space to hold all the documents you want encrypted.

• 2. Choose a password.

  3. Record this in the Safe, there is no way to open this file again if you forget the password.

• 2. Choose NTFS for the file system instead of the default FAT.

• 2. Click Format to finish.
